Ironwood Totem is one of the earliest pieces in the DAC collection — a hand-carved, two-piece sculpture made from reclaimed Arizona ironwood. Each piece was shaped separately but designed to belong together: stack them in multiple directions, flip the form, or place them side-by-side to reveal new silhouettes.
The smaller piece tucks naturally into the larger one, almost like a hidden chamber. When stacked, the two create a striking pillar. When separated, each stands on its own as a sculptural form.
This is a true instinct-created work — carved by feel, guided by the natural grain, color, and weight of the wood.

Artist’s Note:This was one of the first works where the wood shaped the direction. Two pieces, one story — a totem that can be changed, rearranged, or displayed in multiple ways depending on the feeling of the space.
